Meditation is the practice of conditioning the mind to a state of mindfulness and awareness. Broadly, the idea is to become present through breathing techniques and regulation of thought.
Having been practiced for thousand of years and studied the past few decades, meditation has many benefits. Research has shown that the practice helps reduce stress, anxiety, and depression as well as improve attention, sleep, emotion, and well-being.
The beginner meditation videos below will train the body in awareness, by creating subtle shifts (and literally altering the brain pathways). Just remember that it isn't a competition (not even with yourself) and take it lightly the first few practices. It should be a natural process and eventually will be. After you’ve practiced these meditations a few times over the course of a few days, weeks or months— whatever trajectory you’re on — you may realize that you require more time and up the meditation to 10, 15, or even 30 minutes at a time.
